App Store is one of the most profitable market segments for the tech giant company Apple, and a recent report of 2019 proves it. The report show App store saw more than 204 billion downloads during 2019, and consumers spent approximately $120 billion on various apps, subscriptions, and other in-app purchases. Apps download percentage gotten up by 6% as compared to last year and more than 45% as compared to 2016, which shows the rise of user’s interest in buying and using various apps.
The overall increase in downloads of Apps came from emerging markets like India, Indonesia, and Brazil, where downloads increased by 190%, 70%, and 40%, respectively. Tier countries like the USA, on the other hand, witnessed a growth of just 5% in the number of downloads, and China saw a whopping 80% growth. Experts think the USA and other countries like Japan, South Korea, which are considered as the mature market, also gave a positive result for app downloads.
The number might be small in these countries, but overall, people are still using apps at the same curiosity level. In the USA, 12.3 billion downloads were reported, while in Japan and South Korea, the number stood at 2.5 and 2 billion, respectively. One thing which makes this report and shows the growth of the App store is the fact that it did not increase the number of times apps get reinstalled or updates also. Consumers who like to install premium apps and games have spent an enormous amount of money. $120 billion spent on the app store indicates people want to spend their money on buying things that excites them and makes them happy. App developers are overall satisfied because of this significant growth numbers, which will further increase in the future also.
